Georgia Abernethy-Palmer

Lecturer of Animal Science and Bioscience – Higher Education

I have been embedding Sam’s resources into my FE teaching.  Alongside my higher education students, I also teach A2HE Biochemistry and Bioscience.  A few of my learners are GCSE maths and English resit students, but the resource re beneficial to all.  They make a great ice breaker and lesson starter.  They are adaptable and relevant to current news and affairs.  Personally I found no need to amend them, but there is scope to easily amend them and keep the original principle in place.  My students reacted really well to having something novel but engaging to start the session.  Unsurprisingly, biochemistry can be a bit heavy at times- but this certainly lightened the load.  The resources provided opportunity for discussion and debate;  key skills needed at HE level so this was a great opportunity to get the ball rolling.  All resources also provide links to the minimum core, so ideal for any lecturer undertaking their QTLS, ATS and/ or Level 5 in education and training as well as fully qualified members of staff.
